Do you feel like you live in a dangerous city? There's a possibility that you do, based on a new report that lists one destination in Georgia among the most dangerous places in the entire country.
Safe and Sound Security compiled a list of the 20 "most dangerous cities in America" in 2024, and one destination in Georgia found a spot on the list alongside cities like Memphis, St. Louis, New York City, Detroit and New Orleans, to name a few.
Ranking No. 14 overall, Atlanta has high rates of violent crime, with the most common crime being aggravated assault. Here's what Safe and Sound Security had to say about the safety issues concerning Atlanta:
"Atlanta is another major city grappling with high crime rates, particularly violent crimes (8.64 per 1,000 people), such as aggravated assault, which is the most common crime reported. Despite being a hub of economic activity and cultural life, Atlanta's crime rate remains a concern for residents and authorities alike. The city's approach to handling crime involves a mix of community policing and social programs aimed at addressing the key factors contributing to its status as one of the most dangerous cities in the nation."
