Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes reportedly suffered legitimate injuries caused by rapper Travis Scott during the closing segment of the Elimination Chamber premium live event Saturday (March 1) night, the Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer reported on Tuesday (March 4).
“Cody got hurt. I'm pretty sure it was Travis Scott that did it. I heard he had a busted eardrum and a black eye," Meltzer said.
Scott, 33, joined Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and John Cena in a beatdown of Rhodes, 39, setting up both Cena's heel turn and his main event match against Rhodes for WrestleMania 41 in April. A video re-shared by the popular Public Enemies wrestling podcast showed Scott appear to legitimately hit Rhodes, unaware that wrestling strikes are supposed to be fake.
"Nobody told Travis Scott that wrestling isn’t real," the post shared by the podcast's X account stated. "Bro punched tf outta Cody Rhodes."
Johnson had spent the past week attempting to goad Rhodes into giving him his soul, which the champion declined before Cena, 47, surprise attacked him. The trio brutally beat down Rhodes for several minutes to end the show.
Cena also declined to speak during his press conference appearance after Elimination Chamber, instead dropping a microphone on the table and walking out. The 16-time world champion announced his plan to retire from wrestling after 2025 and would break Ric Flair's record for the most world title victories should he defeat Rhodes at WrestleMania 41
Cena is widely regarded as one of the biggest stars in professional wrestling history, served as WWE's franchise player for more than a decade, having played the role of a babyface since 2003, which included headline WrestleManias 28 and 29 against Johnson. Rhodes, the son of late WWE Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes, has emerged as WWE's top babyface since returning from All Elite Wrestling, a promotion he helped launch, in 2022.
