Dallas Mavericks point guard Kyrie Irving has reportedly been ruled out for the remainder of the season due to a torn ACL in his left knee, sources with knowledge of the situation confirmed to ESPN's Shams Charania on Tuesday (March 4).

Breaking: Dallas Mavericks All-Star Kyrie Irving has suffered a season-ending torn ACL in his left knee, sources tell ESPN," Charania wrote on his X account. "Devastating. Irving appeared in 50 of Mavs' 62 games so far, and is currently the only player in the NBA averaging at least 20 points, 40% 3-point shooting and 90% from free throw line -- the fifth season in his career with those statistics, second most all-time to Stephen Curry."

Irving was averaging 24.7 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.6 assists during the 2024-25 NBA season, having been selected to the All-Star game for the ninth time in his 14-year career. The veteran guard has a $44 million player option for the 2025-26 season, the final year of a three-year, $126 million deal he signed with the Mavericks in the 2023 offseason after being acquired in a trade from the Brooklyn Nets late in the 2022-23 season.

Irving's season-ending injury is the latest blow to a Mavericks team that is already without center Anthony Davis, the main piece in the blockbuster trade that sent superstar Luka Dončić to the Los Angeles Lakers last month, after suffering an adductor strain in his only appearance for Dallas.
