Penn State announced they have fired head coach James Franklin after losing back-to-back games against sub-par opponents and dropping from #3 in the country to out of the top 25. It’s an indication that they have thrown in the towel on the season and Doug thinks that’s an extremely poor decision from the decision makers in Happy Valley who have now lit a match to their program and any chance at retaining or recruiting during January’s transfer portal window.
Doug Gottlieb: “I think the James Franklin firing, especially at this point in the season, is utterly and completely and terribly ridiculous. But that’s where we are with college sports. This is why I say college sports; it’s not professional sports. It’s amateur hour for professional sports… You’ve just lit a match to your program in the middle of the season.”
