The Cubs Are Hypocrites

The Cubs are Hypocrites

Clay Travis strongly reacts to the Chicago Cubs banning a fan for life after a hand gesture was broadcast live during Tuesday night’s game against the Marlins as former outfielder Doug Glanville, now an analyst for NBC Sports Chicago, was live on camera. A bearded fan in the background formed his hand into an upside-down “okay” sign, holding it next to Glanville’s head until the camera cut away. Some viewers thought it was too similar to a gesture that was reminiscent of one recently adopted as a symbol of white power flashed by far-right militia members. Others, including Clay and his staff agree that the fan was attempting the once-popular “Circle Game," but Cubs’ management said the use of such a symbol behind a black broadcaster couldn’t be ignored.

Clay says that Theo Epstein and the Cubs are dripping in hypocrisy. The club's comments about the fan's lifetime-ban came on the same day that the team brought back Addison Russell (who was suspended 40-games for violating MLB's Domestic Violence Policy.)
