Why Steph Curry is Still Not One of the 10 Greatest NBA Players of All Time

Ben Maller: “Another popular story going around is now that it’s over and Steph Curry has gotten off the schneid and won an MVP award in the Finals, does Curry now leapfrog to the top 10 NBA players of all time? On my big board, Curry is NOT in the top 10. Sorry, NOT sorry, he’s not. On my big board I still have Michael Jordan, Wilt Chamberlain, Bill Russell, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Kobe Bryant, Karl Malone, LeBron James – who is not in my top 5, and Kawhi Leonard. The reason Kawhi is on there at number 10 is because the Toronto Raptors championship is the single greatest championship ever won in NBA history, so Kawhi catapults into the top 10; he’s got all the accolades, has been great in big games, and he’s a great defensive player. Curry is not in the top 10 and is hanging out in the back with his contemporaries like Shaq, Hakeem Olajuwon, Charles Barkley, Elgin Baylor, Kevin Garnett, Reggie Miller, John Stockton, Isiah Thomas, people like that. Sorry, NOT sorry, because championships are a ‘TEAM’ award, it’s why I have Karl Malone in my top 10. He didn’t win a championship, but it’s a ‘team’ award. Individual accolades are different and are separate.” (Full Video Above)

Listen to Ben Maller of Fox Sports Radio explain why he doesn’t have Steph Curry in his rankings of the top 10 NBA players of all time, despite Curry having just won his fourth NBA championship and capturing his first-ever Finals MVP.
